Frequently asked questions
Questions before your first session?
Here is what to expect from accounts, characters, guests, and the shared table.
Create your account →What does GM Console do?
It brings a tabletop campaign's roster, character resources, initiative, and combat tracking together. The GM manages the party and encounters, while connected players can follow the action and update their own resources. See the feature guide for the current tools.
Does every player need an account?
No. The GM can add guests by name and handle their initiative and hit points. Players need an account if they want to join the campaign on their own device and select a character. Members and guests can play at the same table.
Do I need to install an app?
No. GM Console runs in your browser on a phone, tablet, or computer. You need an internet connection to use it and receive live campaign updates. Offline use is not supported.
How do I join my GM's campaign?
Ask the GM for the campaign's invite code. Sign in, use the code to join, and choose a character for that game. If the code no longer works, ask the GM for the current one.
Can the GM run the game without playing a character?
Yes. The GM can organize the party, add guests, and run encounters without creating a player character. They can also create a character if the game calls for it.
Does it include a complete D&D character builder?
The included game provides a D&D-style level-one foundation: attributes, familiar class choices, starter features, and resources. Complete spell lists, equipment management, every class feature, and automated advancement are not currently included. Continue using your rules references for those details.
Does the initiative tracker roll my dice?
The initiative flow collects the results your group rolls. Arrange the seats, mark attendance, enter the results, and start the encounter. The GM can adjust initiative values and advance turns from the tracker.
Are damage and conditions applied automatically?
The GM records hit point changes and conditions. Your table still resolves attacks, interprets condition effects, and decides when to remove them. Players can spend or restore their own character resources.
What happens to hit points after a fight?
Character hit points stay with the character, and guest hit points stay with the guest between encounters. Review and update them when the group's rules call for healing or recovery. Enemy hit points are part of their encounter.
Can I keep using paper sheets and physical dice?
Yes. Use a GM screen to manage guests, or mix paper sheets with players who join on their phones. There is no digital-map setup required to track an encounter.
Can I try it without payment details?
You can create an account and start a campaign without entering payment details. The getting-started checklist walks through the setup.
Where should I begin?
If you are the GM, create a campaign and invite your party. If you are a player, ask your GM for the code before making a separate campaign. The workflow guide shows how the pieces fit together.
